Young's family released a statement today. Michelle Young, D'Quan's aunt, says: "The family has a right to see the evidence. If the police officer didn't do anything wrong, then why are they hiding the evidence?"
Michelle Young and D'Quan's mother, Catherine, call on @MayorBowser and @ChiefNewsham to release the officer's name, release any video footage (there is no body camera b/c the officer was off duty), and conduct an independent investigation.
This is insane! And the prosecutors are COWARDS for dumping this news right before a holiday weekend. 
This is the worst case scenario for a broken hearted city with trust issues between the police and the community this lack of transparency can cement the wedge and burn what’s left of any bridge building or faith in the so called judiciary process. This is simply unacceptable
