Western culture has been co-opted into an industry of influence by institutions invested in their own agendas and bottom lines. The essence of community that underlies all healthy cultures has been ignored, resulting in an ego-based culture that cannot withstand change.

It's not just the West, but it is where the most damage is done. The East generally maintains some cultural traditions that allow for an underlying sense of community.

This take is bit surprising/confusing, especially from a great thinker. Out of curiosity, is this trough experience?

My personal first-hand experience is probably not enough to warrant a well-informed take on it. It's more of an impression rather than an opinion. Perhaps the examples I am thinking of are not as Westernized as the East, in general, is getting. I am willing to stand corrected.
