11/ It's not difficult to have original ideas; it's more difficult to have those ideas within an original context. Because there you work alone. You have no crowd around. Whatever you create, it's for you. It represents a vital necessity, not a product to be consumed.

Only confused about this last bit. Paraphrasing: the best tweets make all the difference...the rest are either signal or noise. Am I misreading this or are you saying that the best tweets/accounts are neither signal nor noise?
-
I meant the best accounts are neither signalling or noise.
-
Yeah, so I’m stilll confused.
My goal is to find signal among the noise. Or, maybe this is a semantics issue and you are drawing a distinction between signal and signaling? -

If you count yourself in the other category, didn't you trade your identity for anonymity to be free from the influence?
-
I'm a victim of this influence and have been in both categories as far as I can tell. As for the anonymity bit I wouldn't think it would make much of a difference personally.

I often catch myself thinking for Twitter, instead of thinking for myself. On the other hand, I found this format to have a relatively high return for my effort. Preparing a speech for a large audience can kill my thinking for weeks. A blogpost for days. A tweet only for hours.
-
Shape-shifting like my current mink monk joke, or outright switching accounts are two tools I try to use. For all the mental pain it's given me, I love the ephemeral nature and low impact form of this platform almost since day 1.
