2/ Chic nihilism of this kind is fashionable, but fallacious. It assumes that truth is powerless—"people will believe in lies anyway"—precisely because it dismisses it right off the gate. It never bothers to stand for it and experience first hand whether it has any power or not.

3/ People bear the burden of their choices whether they buy into a false narrative or not. Dismissing people for foolishness is dismissing the pain and harm it causes as being deserved. This does not seem very compassionate or responsible. And it certainly changes nothing.

4/ Upholding the truth is a value in and of itself — one does it regardless of outcome or consequences, because it is the right thing to do. Focusing on the outcome or consequences is precisely the way to lose your integrity. If you don't speak truth you might as well not see it.
