It is only the individual who encounters his own ideal in the very depths of his consciousness that has any possibility of achieving it. Ideals borrowed from others, from society, from culture, do not belong to the individual and they will fail him every time.

But how do I find my ideal? How do I separate what I truly believe from what I might be conditioned to believe by society? Does a separation actually exist?

It's already there - you'll find it if you stop looking in the wrong place, and you'll know when you do; the difference will be clear. To separate them you must be aware of your perception and thoughts and ask yourself "How do I know it is so". Very few things are truly yours.
