But how do I find my ideal? How do I separate what I truly believe from what I might be conditioned to believe by society? Does a separation actually exist?

It's already there - you'll find it if you stop looking in the wrong place, and you'll know when you do; the difference will be clear. To separate them you must be aware of your perception and thoughts and ask yourself "How do I know it is so". Very few things are truly yours.

Are ideals also desires? Are all desires borrowed? If all ideals are desires, and all desires borrowed, then from whom we borrow matters immensely (mimetic desire). Can one truly "encounter his own desire"? Or, rather, "encounter desires in his consciousness meant only for him"?
