1/ A few more thoughts that echo in my head after reading this.https://twitter.com/naval/status/912709884163919872 …

7/ This pattern has been repeated many times in history. We are already at the brink of a new cycle of collective identity destabilization.

8/ If we don't pay attention and change course future generations may wake up in an Orwellian nightmare without knowing how they got there.

9/ For anyone who doubts this read "Ordinary Men" by Christopher Browning. See just how easily and quickly a lie becomes identity and truth.

10/ The environment we create for ourselves is becoming more & more artificial. Identity—if not personally inquired into—only follows suit.

11/No form of externally provided identity can be true for it is conditional & therefore does not stand on its own. Truth stands on its own.

12/ That which is unconditional and not transient—what simply is—is where one finds truth & their own being; by and for themselves, alone.

13/ To never know yourself then is not only a crime against your own being; it is a crime against truth, humanity and existence as a whole.

14/ Conversely, if you know your being you know truth, and you embody it. You become a messenger for truth and are able to spread it.

15/ Seek your true being and don't settle for a fake identity. It's not only about you. The fate of the world might very well depend on it.

Mind sharing why you use "true" here? From your other tweets: What is changes, so does true identity. Knowing oneself is a range, takes time
-
I use "true" for brevity; you are right in pointing out that the meaning might be unclear from the wording,
-
I used "true" to distinguish between what can be called "being" (one's own consciousness, awareness and experience) and "surface identity"..
-
.. One's acquired identity through affiliation with ideas, beliefs, people, things, and so on, which is conditional and predicated on them.
-
I don't mean to imply that there is something "false" or "wrong" with this second dimension. It is necessary and useful..
-
.. The problems exist where one only operates from this level of identity.

This is precisely why religion has been such a persuasive and powerful force in societies throughout history.
-
This is also exactly what the fascists, communists, and nationalists understood at it's core and offered to society instead of religion.
-
You are right on both counts.
