The self you imagine yourself to be has nothing to do with who you are. This is very hard to realize and accept. But a step toward freedom.

The more you break off from the conditioned pattern of projecting a self, the more present you are, the more you act in accord with life.

In that act, that spontaneous letting-go of the mind, as it were, you begin to know yourself, by being it. You experience a different state.

Authenticity is not either thinking of yourself, or not think of yourself. It is your natural state of being when "you" don't interfere.

When you are in that state, there is no need to try to encapsulate it in some "method". Hold on to it & you lose it. Let go & you have it.

Authenticity is in equal parts knowing and not-knowing. Most don't get that. They think authenticity is confirming to an imaginary self.

Have a look into that idea, it might give you an insight. It comes down to the difference between "knowing" and "knowing that you know".

Or, another way: When you are authentic you know it, you are it, and yet you don't know what you'll do. You don't "control" it.
