There are a few ways to solve the conflict: e.g. authenticity is not really abt identity so no need to know urself to act authentically. /5

A few things to clear my point of view and perhaps explain it better: 1. To know thyself is to be thyself.

The problem arises because you are still attempting to relate something to a phenomenal center, or a self. The question is valid though.

Authenticity is there when there is nothing standing in the way. Conceptual thought is what stands in the way for the most part.

The self you imagine yourself to be has nothing to do with who you are. This is very hard to realize and accept. But a step toward freedom.

The more you break off from the conditioned pattern of projecting a self, the more present you are, the more you act in accord with life.

In that act, that spontaneous letting-go of the mind, as it were, you begin to know yourself, by being it. You experience a different state.

Authenticity is not either thinking of yourself, or not think of yourself. It is your natural state of being when "you" don't interfere.

When you are in that state, there is no need to try to encapsulate it in some "method". Hold on to it & you lose it. Let go & you have it.

Authenticity is in equal parts knowing and not-knowing. Most don't get that. They think authenticity is confirming to an imaginary self.

So they think and try to create an image of their authentic selves and project it onto reality and so forth. They are genuine fakes.

Beyond the obvious paradox of being authentic while subservient to a self-image, this also cripples you from the full ability of your mind.

Your mind contains so much information that makes it up that you cannot ever access conciously and therefore take into account.

You have a mind, and a body, and those are what they are by nature and nurture. To impose on them is a losing battle.

As long as you think in terms of a thinker that thinks about you are projecting a self as an object which is completely imaginary.

"Thinking about" implies a thinker. There is no thinker. You create that illusion. There is only perpetual thinking. This is the problem.
