Beliefs turn to actions, actions to habits, habits to character. You can profess intellectual belief, character betrays buildup of beliefs.

If one observes a person for 24 hours it is enough to see what they believe in. The other stuff we cherish in our heads are surface level.

No one likes this fact. We all on some level avoid it. Our character is the most difficult thing to change. So we just add stuff on top.

We rationalize our patterns of behavior to an absolutely insane degree. No matter how faulty, our character is ultimately all we know.

If only it were as easy to change a character by implanting a new belief. This is not possible. It cannot take root, unless acted upon.
