Whatever you define (as subject) as "self" (object) cannot be your self. For more on this I recommend Maharshi's "Self-Inquiry" method.
What you call 'self' in this context is conditioned upon your thoughts, upon your environment, upon transient phenomena. That can be seen.

I don't think so because I see the self as the interaction of all the parts, I don't think of the parts or their movement as the self.

So you couldn't see "the self" but you could see what comprises the self.
