If you are what you do, then should you not have a sense of pride and shame regarding what you do... therefore, regarding who you are?

Ego≠self. Ego=self-consciousness (w/shame, pride etc.) At first you try to fulfill an ego, an image of "yourself" or "who you want to be".

What CAN be done is to observe it so to make space for what IS real. So you can laugh about it and snap out of it saying "How silly of me!"

Sure, but this is not an argument, was pointing out how never knowing yoursself by being yourself and living as an ego destroys your life.
