Ego without vision of the possibilities of self is chaos.

With such vision, ego is a tool for developing the self: ego gives the self a reason to evolve and grow by giving the self pride and shame.

If you are what you do, then should you not have a sense of pride and shame regarding what you do... therefore, regarding who you are?

Ego≠self. Ego=self-consciousness (w/shame, pride etc.) At first you try to fulfill an ego, an image of "yourself" or "who you want to be".

The reason why that doesn't work is because you don't know yourself enough to see through it. You haven't lived enough (not directed 2 u).

So if you find yourself and you attach a sense of pride/shame to that... I still consider that ego. Great points on the beginning ego....

What CAN be done is to observe it so to make space for what IS real. So you can laugh about it and snap out of it saying "How silly of me!"

True, but the ego is just as "real" and worthy of observation as anything else at that point. I don't see it as silly... I see it as human

The ego has an advantage. It is static, and can be known & observed. Your being is dynamic, and the only way to "know" it is to live it.

I don't separate the two, I'm not sure I can know my ego.

Or... maybe what I am trying to say is there is great advantage to attaching your ego to "being" and disavowing it from all else
