The question of free will does not pertain to individual identity as subjectively experienced (how you relate to yourself), but to group identity and values (how you relate to others in the game). It is a question that concerns ethics, not the fundamental nature of reality.

We don’t know. Old quote persists in this question: A man cannot step into the same river twice. It is not the same river, he is not the same man.

Been thinking about the second question; does it ever matter? For now, I say no. How the reality is constructed doesn't affect what it is. Then, don't expend too much energy thinking about it. Be.

1. The game: life. 2. Would you know: Assume no, As you could never know the depth of the "pre-calculated" moves 3. Make difference: No, seek to fundamentally understand the current level, and break through to next.

The second stanza poses my favorite question on free will, if there is some fate, an inevitable destiny which will manifest for all of us does it matter? Your achievements are your own whether you were guided through your fate or you make it yourself the achievements are yours.
