Reading multiple books simultaneously, quitting those that are not engaging, constantly picking up new ones, is the antifragile approach to self-educating.

The difference between this and the one previous is staggering.

Exactly. That's why I put it up.

Don't you think , you might miss out the interesting parts that may come after the boring ones?
-
I don't, because I tend not to read linearly, except if it is a literary work. Even using your logic, you must draw the line and be somewhat selective, otherwise the opportunity cost is immense. The issue also involves the refinement of taste, which alters what 'boring' means.

“All my efforts are for the moment directed along one line: conquer boredom. I think of nothing else day or night. Is it an impossible task for someone who gives himself to it wholeheartedly? Do understand that I insist on seeing what lies on the other side of boredom.” - Breton

I don't think that's true. You can be bored for 50 pages and then it's the best 200 pages of your life. Same book.

Fucked up dopaminergic pathways make it difficult to distinguish between genuine or «perverse» boredom

"The trick is to be bored with a specific book, rather than the act of reading." I haven't read Antifragile yet. This may be why I do not quite understand the meaning of his comment. Could you please explain it? My hunch is that it can't be taken literally.
