Information retention is non-linear; it requires the creation of multiple access points to the same data, or a web of interconnected neural pathways. The benefit of thinking for yourself is it sticks with you; it is the mechanism by which your own data relates to new information.

Do you believe we can think completely by ourselves?

Agreed. Collective stimulation conditionates process. We use language to think. Its methods and structure, along with the limitations derived from these, were given to us. The foundations of thought were never an individual creation. Neither its exercising.

Pretty much. Language, to me, is in a sense, everything. That being said, there are deeper layers of cognition which exist prior to it, and that is what I am interested in understanding.

This was in response to an observation stating the difficulty of understanding how the same brain structure between, say, a Michelangelo and an early homo sapiens could have created so vastly different artwork.https://twitter.com/mistermircea/status/977905771311747072 …

Essentially, because of language. Imagine the gap in perception between exact numbers and the concepts of "few" and "many". While the same brain allows for the same perceptual differentiation the conceptual differentiation which is container and conduit is as crude as you see it.

The first one is a prehistoric painting and the second is a drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci. As I see it, the main difference is in the 'tools and materials," both pieces of art were created from the right side of the brain.pic.twitter.com/EYfT8ZNF82

I actually feel more connected to the prehistoric cave painting, it seems to capture the soul of the animal.
