The problem with gurus is that they are not addressing you; they are addressing their own psychology, outwardly projected. Few minds have circumvented this natural blind spot and provided true means for self-understanding instead of a methodology or system of thought (e.g Jung).

Such bias is well known to any psychologist worth their name. Jung, a little outdated but a great thinker nevertheless. Nietzsche, Bateson, Watzlawick have so much more to offer in my opinion.

Why do you say that Jung is "a little outdated?" His work is being used and extended in many disciplines besides psychology, even in the hard sciences. Furthermore, those who have read his works deeply have opined that it will take 100s of years to integrate his work.

As a clinical psychologist I can tell you that his work, from an empirical and practical standpoint, is outdated. Therapy today can be done much more faster and effectively without even postulating concepts such as "the inconscious", for example.

... I can only comment by saying that there continue to be many Jungian psychologists/analysts around the world who are successful in their practice & that depth psychology in general, with its focus on the unconscious, has been shown to be quite effective in long-term care. end/

Occam's razor also holds for therapy. If a problem can be treated/solved in 10 sessions, there's no reason to unnecessarily multiply concepts and use of resources. There are brief Jungian therapists, but they are a minority.
