Often what is needed to solve a problem is to disengage from it entirely and engage with what appears on the surface to be unrelated, or even contradictory. When intelligent people want to solve an existential crisis, they go fishing.

This is why I try to meditate/go for a walk every day. Rest too, and sleep even unplugs the conscious mind allowing solutions to surface from odd directions. Golf though too, climbing, n any activity which stills the mind in concentration seems also to help.

In Switzerland it’s required by law to take two < consecutive > weeks off in every calendar year. Switzerland is not a lazy/socialist state. There are productive reasons to disengage. Especially true in creative fields.
