Ever since I posted this, I’ve had white strangers AND friends say “there must be something more to this story.” That assumption is a big part of the problem. It does happen. All the time. Just not to you and me. Believe it and speak up.

Every time I have to say this for work I'm going to say it here again: there is no such thing as reverse racism

As Predicted: Trump just wants an agreement that undoes what Obama did. His racism knows no bounds.

Good moment to remind you that there was an agreement in place that was actually curtialing Iranian nuclearization. Trump pulled out of it. He is the problem, not the solution.

It’s not irrational or immature to believe that war is not the answer. Indeed, it is irrational and inhumane to believe that people must be slaughtered in the interest of a better world. Better for who?

Well, just landed at JFK and — no surprise — got taken to the special side room and got asked (among other things) how I feel about the situation with Iran. I wanted to be like: my book comes out in September, preorder now on amazon

Those stories tell a truth abt America that is painful but necessary to engage. Their stories implicate us all as citizens of this deeply flawed democracy. They tell of the America that many of us know well but so many more ignore. “We didn’t know,” so many well-meaning ppl say.

I appreciate those who are sanguine about the shut out of . I am not. B/c where we find ourselves in this country in this moment has so much to do w/the willful blindness & disregard for the voices & experiences of those at the bottom.

White educators, please do not quote Dr. King in a few weeks if you do not know the three things he fought to eradicate AND have not read his "Letter from Birmingham Jail" Please and thank you.

This is a NY State Senator’s response when asked whether she will buckle to the relentless, racist, cynical fearmongering by police, prosecutors & lawmakers enabled by sensationalist media to reject bail reforms started *just 4 days ago.* More of this courage. We have your back.

"In accordance with constitutional values of fairness, opportunity and equity for all, Legislature recognizes that enforcing a Eurocentric image of professionalism disparately impacts Black individuals.” The fact that this has to be written down and put into law is... no words.

Julián Castro’s exit from the primary is devastating. He has been the most outspoken on criminal justice issues such as police brutality, officer shootings, and the problem of qualified immunity. His voice will be missed. Sanders and Warren would do well to carry those messages.
