YouTuber's that make junk kids content using their following to fight FTC's effort to protect kids from tracking and targeted ads. It's up to parents to tell FTC no actually we don't want our kids tracked for ads to monetize their attention. #COPPAhttps://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-11-05/youtubers-are-lobbying-ftc-to-fight-child-privacy-law-expansion …

I have kids that I allow to go on YouTube and am happy with them receiving monetized ads...The FTC stopping targeted ad is going to do more harm than good for kids! Kids content will shrink as a result and more mature content will spread

We know that parents use YouTube to discover and watch content w/ their kids. We’ll keep kids content on the http://youtube.com for families to enjoy together. If you want to let your kids explore YT independently, you can use the YT Kids app:https://www.youtube.com/kids/safer-experience/ …

Sounds ideal, but the channels my kids enjoyed and learned a great deal from are no longer on the YT kids app.

It may be because the content is no longer appropriate for kids/families, or the channel got suspended. We’ve taken a number of precautions to ensure that families searching in YouTube Kids will see results that are appropriate for younger audiences. Hope this helps.

Not at all. I’ve seen way worse videos remain on YT kids versus the type of videos my 4 year old actually enjoyed. I really wish there was a panel for you guys to actually listen to the parents about the content/channels/creators we want to see on the app.
