Comparing recent anti-lockdown protests to large anti-Trump protests over a year ago is like comparing apples & oranges! Yes, some of the anti-lockdown protests have been small but others have brought thousands of people into crowded public spaces - which is a public health risk

Anti-lockdown protests are also a reminder of the culture wars and intense polarization/ epidemic of misinformation and erosion of trust in public institutions. And that puts lives at risk. I think that warrants some serious analysis.

Other recent non-lockdown protests (supporting ICE detainees, inmates etc) were largely conducted from cars. That doesn't court the same public health risk as bringing loads of people into the same place - which was the case in Michigan, Olympia, Salt Lake City, to name a few.

And - scenes of heavily armed white men parading around state capitols are frightening! Some lawmakers in Michigan actually wore bulletproof vests to work ahead of a recent protest. Should that be normalized? It at least deserves some serious discussion about how we got here

Vox also says that the media was tricking people into thinking this was a grassroots movement. But there's been a lot of very good reporting about how a lot of this is astroturfing by conservative interest groups, combined with fringe elements

Yeah, like I’m sorry, heavily armed men with flak jackets on a state capitol is, in fact, extremely newsworthy.

Really? I was under the impression that's just Status quo in the US.

Did you notice the media blackout on my: ‘No Shirts, No Shoes, No Service is Un-Constitutional BS - Rascal Scooter Parade & Open Trebuchet Carry Jamboree’ ?? And now the DeVos family keeps calling me to ask for their money back. This is the real story being buried!
