The economics are simple. If the price of something is what someone else is willing to pay for it, and USWNT can't find anyone else to do what they do as well as they do it, holding out for more money is the obvious solution.

I would be entirely in favor of passing a law that requires sports organizations/events to pay men and women equally based on the amount of revenue the league/event generates. In this case however it would mean that either the men would get a big raise or the women a pay cut.
