We acknowledged our error (it was a typo - and not an egregious one at that, as the numerical value was still below zero), and published a correction. And you know it!
How many orders of magnitude must an error be to qualify as egregious? A positive number is *below zero? A couple real (hate?) crimes against 5th grade math right here.
A Vice journo calling anyone else’s reporting “nonsense and incredibly irresponsible” is too rich lmaooooooo
It's also an opinion piece, and it comes as no surprise that Quillette - given its reliance on bunk stats and bad actors in the past - would parrot it as news.
It's a rag compared to the completely reputable publisher like *Squints* the "Huffington Post".
And Vice will need to go through a number of refunding efforts every few years to survive, until its irrational backers run out of other people's money.
Andy Ngo, who was fired from his first journalism job for making shit up, keep trying to convince us that hate crimes are fake.
I don't know why he thinks tap dancing for white supremacy will save him from it.
I dunno, I just think he's a grifter and I keep finding it incredibly amusing that his current beat is "minorities lie" given his history.
the trauma from the antifa silly string massacre really got to him
@MrAndyNgo is better than you at everything. Don’t hate.
The article is based on a book by Wilfred Reilly. The question, then, is whose data is more accurate. @proflevin's or Wilfred Reilly's?
(although I suspect that a lot of this turns on what counts as a fake)
I just checked wilfred's site where he claims 400+ hoaxes in 2017 and it's a huge "oof". It's like he googled "hate crime AND hoax" and copied the first 400 urls. Opinion pieces, investigations finding no hate crime when non was alleged, info http://wars.com and more
That's not "my site." We just talked about this. This is http://fakehatecrimes.org , a site I specifically mentioned as ANOTHER, different list of hate hoaxes. I then offered to send you my own, much more vetted list of 608. Would you like it.
We did, check the time stamps. I admitted i misread your promotion of it. That being said i would highly recommend against noting it along side your own work. It's not exactly quality.
Looking at his Twitter feed, the fact that the WSJ is willing to publish something by him is a damning indictment of their editorial process and a sin worthy of disqualification of them as a serious news publication.
Shocked to find out that Andy is a disingenuous shitheel
Lol whatever. She relied on SPLC, the racist activist organization. Andy Ngo actually did investigative research. Lot more than 23 here, and he has other threads with many more. Weird right.https://twitter.com/mrandyngo/status/1097581249911123968?lang=en …
Yeah, and Andy doesn’t even touch white hoaxers blaming blacks. Anyone have a link to a verified study?
If that is true the number is actually higher
