Because even when you read it aloud to yourself (which you should also be doing), you're going to justify things to yourself you can't when it's laid bare by someone else stumbling over your clever-ism.

You can and will always fix stuff on the fly in the booth, but it's better not to be spending (especially guild rate) time on that then.

Even if a full table-read isn't feasible, just READING DIALOGUE AND TEXT OUT LOUD *with someone else* listening and reading back will shake out many speedbumps that aren't apparent while reading silently. This goes for every type of writing.
