    I have officially reached the point where I'm quietly devastated by how much good TV I've fallen behind on & angry at the shows that I watched & didn't like. This can't be healthy!!

    Almost every theater around me is listed as "There are no more screenings at this theater today," and it's only 5:30. 🙁

    I was annoyed when MoviePass automatically charged me for an entire year when I signed up last February. Now I'm *extra annoyed* by that because my options also look like this, and I doubt they'll even be around in 6 months?

    As part of MoviePass’s ongoing effort to improve my moviegoing experience, 1/2 the films at my local theater are now available only at 3 am.

    - About 100 goats are on the loose right now in a neighborhood. They are going house to house eating everything in sight. Nobody has a clue where they came from...updates to follow

    In addition to making (some of) us feel better about ourselves, it also creates cultural in-group/out-group boundaries between those who adopt “ethical lifestyles” and those who don’t. See also:

    Making series of small, ethical purchasing decisions while ignoring the structural incentives for companies’ unsustainable business models won’t change the world as quickly as we want. It just makes us feel better about ourselves.

    Excellent interview with Robert McChesney that historicizes how the internet became so commercialized and undemocratic (spoiler alert: it didn't have to become so corrupted by surveillance and disinformation). He also discusses what's to be done about it.

    That being said, part of what I like about HBO Now (compared to Netflix) is that I'm not completely overwhelmed by a ton of shows I have absolutely no familiarity with. John Stankey should read "The Paradox of Choice."

    HBO is already broad (though it doesn't want you to think that because ). HBO has 130+ million global subscribers (16 million people watched one episode of Game of Thrones!). This kind of challenges the notion that HBO is a "boutique operation," no?

    Child care is too expensive ✓, Worried about the economy ✓, Worried about global instability ✓, Struggle with work-life balance ✓, Worried about climate change ✓, Prioritized my education and career ✓, plus general costs of living/healthcare & I'm scurred of giving birth.

    "Women have more options" is a weird way to spell "fully 64% of respondents say that privatized child care is so expensive there is no human way to both adequately raise a child and work enough to provide for it"
