Sometimes i am studying something and I'll dream about it. For example, i studied taichi and started having dreams of masters transmitting teachings. I told my instructor, he said that was how the masters taught, mind to mind, so it was a sign of integration lol but who knows
Even without making/denying any claims to mystical transmission etc, there is a very rich crossover between what one might call symbol and reality. I’ve been thinking about this a bit, especially with regards to the symbolic aspects of ‘non-ritual’ Vajrayana practice and dreams.

This arose as vaguely interesting because I have one foot in a fairly mystical/schmistical tradition, and one in a significantly more secular one - the two styles of teaching/thinking both reflect this relationship between symbol-reality, but in fairly different ways.

Dreams are a great place to find out how traditions approach this sort of stuff. Eg: Some traditions assume that enlightened beings can communicate content via dreams. Others function on the assumption that the underlying contour of dream experience is communicative.
