So if you don't deny that agency and responsibility are tightly connected, then what are you talking about? I can only think that you are talking about people who lie and try to make others believe they have no agency/responsibility by claiming it is illusional, delusional etc.

Listen dude, I'm playing on your servers here....I actually don't give two shakes of a frenchman's cock about Gray's anti-communism leading to his views about capitalism being the literal end of history, because agency or not I think he's largely right in his claim about humanity

I'm pretty open to being wrong on any of this, I'm not a philosopher. But I don't think you've quite made it clear how his views on communism result in his claims that humanity will wipe itself out. That is completely non-obvious to me, and not clarified by your point on agency.

As I said, I'm open to being wrong. I'm pretty soft in the head so I'm wrong a lot. That's just fine, it is what it is.

There are people who believe in omniscient beings #onhere, you're right, but I'm not one of them. Okay, let's say capitalism means the end of history, literally, in the sense that it will wipe humanity out (and the majority of extant species of flora and fauna).

Now let's say that there are those who believe that capitalism is not the end of history, that there is a possibility of its sublation into a new societal form, let's call this form communism. Those who deny the possibility of this new form are therefore anti-communists.

It is in this sense I call Gray out on his anti-communism. As Postel says in the wiki, Gray asserts 'complete political passivity. There is no point whatsoever in our attempting to make the world a less cruel or more livable place'. This refusal of attempt is refusal of agency.

This refusal of agency is therefore connected to the refusal of what I have called communism. I hope I have now made my position intelligible.
