I look forward to reading the brilliant John Gray’s latest offering: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/apr/15/seven-types-of-atheism-john-gray-review-richard-harries?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter … I heard him talking on BBC radio 4 this morning - made me want to pick up Schopenhauer again.

Apparently so. IIRC, the host quoted it when discussing the topic of Gray's opposition to the style of thinking which equates wisdom & compassion with social-activism, which Gray said would condemn many contemplative tradions which don't necessarily tend to engagement.

Well, indeed. I haven’t read AS since school, so I had no recollection of the AS-Buddhism connection. Both Hutton & App have explored that area more recently, so if I ever get back to AS I’ll read up on those works too. I’m too busy with other pointless philosophy at the moment
