Contemplative fieldnote: 'no-self' is a curious turn of phrase to me. It's not that there is no self. There is a self, it's just that it's an illusion made up of a lot of interconnected activities which are all not-self, and get confused for being a solid thing, a solid "I".

I was reliably informed that this amounts to the same realisation, but might prevent people getting stuck in 'self-denial' prior to seeing the truth of no-self. eg: "Once you've seen it, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference one way or another - because it's fucking obvious."
