My immediate thought is that it fits just fine into basic training: pick a sense gate/object, gently bring yourself back when you notice you aren’t in contact with that sense gate/object. And so on. But music as a modality for attentional raining is highly nuanced.

It raises certain themes commonly found in more Tantric contexts - transforming emotion, using sensory experience to heighten energy of attention, ritual aspects, speciality of awareness, and so on. Also skewed towards factors connected to the entanglement of senses & vipassana

There are a whole bunch of analogues to look to for examples of using sound; mantra, chanting, yogic song, ritual music, and so on.... But I suspect it’s much easier to teach basic principles and then play with music, than it is to use music as the delivery vehicle, as a gateway

Of course, once you have basic skill this area of exploration is a very fun and fruitful can of worms - but barriers to entry and complicating factors make me want to suggest more conventional methods. End of note.
