I practice #mindfulness every day, but I don’t do it to get better at sitting still in quiet rooms. I do it to get better at staying more engaged in my life regardless of the circumstances that are beyond my direct control.

I really didn't begin to power up my 'life practice' until my normal experience of life was tortuously painful. Funny that eh. I wonder how best a person can cultivate the sort of resolve required to build continuity? Traditional methods of motivation might not translate so well

Same! I always encourage people to start small and be strategic. Find some task you're doing every day and keep gently steering your attention back to it when it inevitably wanders off. We can build on more often than never, right?http://bit.ly/ScatteredAttnAPR2018 …

Sounds good. On the other end of the spectrum I know people who are willing to put thousands of hours into formal practice - and do so in a deep way - and yet still struggle to extend that training to mundane experience. Shadow side of being 'called to the mystery' I suppose.

@ShinzenYoung who encourages both.
