Worth noting that this stuff happens, nearly everywhere, even without any explicit ‘manipulation tactics’ - just properties which are co-emergent with ‘spheres of human interaction’. [Closely related to process-relational thought of Whithead, Sloterdijk, neo-ritual theory too.]

I’d say your right to an extent, but whether or not tactics like this are used with conscious intent, the result of using them ascribes intentionality to their agents.

I'm not sure I understand the premise of your sentence, but if you're suggesting that any resultant 'killed minds', must necessarily be due to explicit intent - then I disagree. Obviously the intentionality changes the dynamic, and what not...

Eg: The reflexivity at play in 2007 credit crisis. There we see a complex system with many participatory agents unintentionally contributing to the bubble via relationships between objective, subjective (individual perceptions), and intersubjective (collective/market perception).
