An interesting observation this evening in a conversation where "getting old" was a topic, yet the concept seemed difficult to relate to in the context of unchanging experiencing. I suddenly realized I had actually become identified with being this unchanging display experiencing
‘causes great problems’ - for the practitioner, or did you mean for the tradition, with regards to orthodoxy? Fwiw, I train predominantly in a kagyu-nyingma lineage. Although others have had a big influence on my practice.

Magical power w/o enlightenment has a lot of bad ends. You see it with a lot of modern day mages. It can warp the tradition, as well. Constant reincarnation (and Tibetans believe in this, it is not carp) causes issues as well.

There is this vast strain in western mysticism that has bought into materialism as a metaphysic & as a result does not take the clear words and testimony of the vast history of mysticism seriously at all. "They were all mistaken/deluded & we are right." Oh?
