Does anyone else get severe anxiety after drinking too much coffee? Kind of a weird depressed state?

definitely. All that adrenal uptake can make a person hypervigilant and panicked. Long outbreaths will help engage the parasympathetic system and calm you down.

That’s interesting. Do you have any source recommendations to read up on that? I assume that this is one of the ways ‘clearing exercises’ work, such as the 12-fold lower belly breaths taught at Dharma Ocean (also found in Mahamudra Enhancement, Lujong, etc).
