His translations seem divisive - I’ve not read his work but heard people love it, and others say it’s a horrible mistranslation which misses the point. Translator problemz I guess

Yeah, that’s a classic thing. Same with Coleman Barks. Frankly, I think it’s silly. If the text is alive it’s alive.

Absolutely. Something helpful I heard from a translator/teacher was that they’ve found that even w/ really inaccurate translations, people can still get the heart meaning if you investigate what it is they think they read. Curiouser and curiouser, heh.
