Human groups, particularly religious spheres, very rarely take honesty - real honesty - as a central principle around which the community self-organises or is orchestrated about. Extremely rare. I don’t want to upset anyone or offend anyone if it doesn’t achieve anything.

Yes, decoupling behaviour and feelings is nearly always a skilful guideline, in so far that feeling can inform behaviour, but it normally just drives it completely. I agree. Although, it is much more complicated than that. Sorry for detailing your original tweet

I think the issue of ‘honesty’ is usally more about validating our own feelings than expressing objective data.
