Insulin resistance is crazy. Eat only ice cream, little cheddar cheese fish crackers, and pizza, and then, within three days start experiencing continuous, starving hungry-fullness, weight gain, and eventually subtle vision issues from glycosolation. 1/3

But eat brown rice, oatmeal, and beans, with some cheese, butter, protein, and some vegetables and flax seed (and orange juice and some electrolytes), and experience none of those things, while losing weight and never being hungry and cognitively dull. 2/3

this is such an interesting observation! lines up with a lot of my own experience too. mixing in fresh vegetables and a handful of "super food" whole grains and legumes in even modest quantities seems to really go a long way to preventing insulin related problems in me.

Your comment reminds me of Ferris’ slow carb diet, which focuses on insulin sensitivity IIRC. One of the most comfortable diets I’ve experimented with, highly conducive to very high intensity training also. I eat close to that a lot of the time.
