muscle tension = active psychological issue = blocked energy

That heuristic might end up doing you a mischief (combining the 'energy' metaphor with physical and psychological stuff has some hidden pitfalls. One reason why some energy practices aren't done with the body as we usually conceive of it...the 'normal' body can only take so much)

I'm not sure how helpful it would be to say much more, because some meanings/analogies are system-bound, and I don't want to present these ways of working as being universal, or better than some other methods. I don't mind risking sounding silly though...

we have very fixed ideas about what our body is and can do/expereince, and as insight develops, as we become more open to experience, open out more fully, things can seem overwhelmingly poignant, and we cannot handle that intensity of richness when inhabiting our idea of the body

Even something as simple as colours. The blueness of the sky might become much more dynamic. You aren't just seeing the idea of blue, you are open to subtleties of perception, and all of that can take a while to get used to, to let go of our previous concepts of what was true.

This isn't even necessarily *how things are*, which is where things get funky because the way you practice has constructive effects, or can change what is/isn't salient...something like that.

So some of the practices which make use of energy practices — which I think is an ok term — deliberately adopt a sort of map of the body which isn't like our usual ideas.....and this can have a sort of protective effect. It can help prevent people hurting themselves.

There are lots of different ways of working and different ways of understanding - but to bring this back to the OP, I think equating 'energy blockages' with physical tensions pains with specific psychological/emotional information, could be a bit messy. There is some overlap.

eg: some of the yogas understand the knots in the energetic system as reflecting our patterns from past action, which can play out psychologically, or we get sick in doing the yoga practices, which is a _bit_ like healing a trauma perhaps. But thats a bit round peg square hole.

I need to go and take care of something and my mumbling is mostly over. Take all this with lashings of salt, and be careful of jumping to conclusions if working between methods. Keep your psychological stuff psychological and your energetic stuff energetic, some siloing is good
