I sometimes find that this disposition in the face of disorientation from chronic vertigo will leave me feeling like I don't know where I am, though I can recognize the scene visually. I'm rarely relaxed in those moments, as they seem a gateway to falling down.
Rather relatedly, I passed out and fell down a few years back after a nap. As I was turning shaky and sweaty in the buildup, I remember thinking "if this is failure, I'm OK with that". I haven't practiced breath retention since, though it was once my comfort of choice.
