Are people silly for not having coherent, non-contradictory beliefs, or is it silly to expect intelligent people to have global, universal, coherent beliefs about messy reality?
Maybe the paradox in there is irritating because coherence and incoherence are locked in a conceptual 69, and your sense of coherence shapes what sort of incoherences you can allow.
