Most would be stone age cavemen who are 6ft+ with insane tendon strength, and mastery over flint knives and spears, and archery. I wouldn't want to mess with them by their rules of engagement. Unarmed, I have 70% chance to dodge eye pokes and biting, then get a leg lock.https://twitter.com/JoesBarAndCult/status/1219697389373546497 …

@selentelechia@eigenrobot why disregard that most of your ancestors are pre-agricultural? They'd have the size advantage over you and they will fight dirty with tricks you've never seen before because thy are too savage.https://twitter.com/selentelechia/status/1220009681659162624 …Mimetic Contagion added,
selentelechia @selentelechiaprobably have a size and health advantage but I actually think expecting to beat 50% would be optimistic my great grandmother on one side once pinned a gym teacher against a wall for giving her son a bad grade https://twitter.com/JoesBarAndCult/status/1219697389373546497 …Show this thread3 replies 0 retweets 19 likesShow this thread -
I think leg locks are the only modern tricks an ancient warrior, gladiator, or hunter would be completely caught off guard by. I'd expect them to have nasty counters for anything else I try.

what you think leg locks are a recent invention? hahahahah

It is a recent invention as a complete and sophisticated system AFAIK. A few people in past generations might know basic ankle lock or heel hook as a last resort, but they don't practice it much or really know any good defenses or variations.

Replying to @MimeticValue @nosilverv and
IIRC John Danaher said that the only technique he couldn’t find evidence of in historical grappling texts/art, was the triangle choke. I think you’re right that it’s fairly new as a systematised branch of grappling, but not Danaher new (he did a great job evolving it, ofc)
