You’ve probably seen it but @sarahdoingthing wrote this really nice thing about misfit and cringe in ritual, and I’ve been thinking a bit about that.
Secular rituals don’t fail because they’re secular per-se, they’re just lacking most of the stuff required for good ritual.

Ritual contexts are continually re-created by the people who engage in them - and for some reason people tying to do ritual stuff don’t seem to understand that there are skills and capacities that need developing, which are really hard to pick up because they hide in plain sight
