naive guess but that looks a bit like compression artifacts from jpeg set to inappropriately high compression settings

Ohhh maybe, it’s a raw file imported to Photos app — and fuck you apple for calling it that — so it could be doing some sort of compression without me noticing. I shall check this later.

Is it possible it’s a display only artifact from real-time rescaling errors? I’d check the file at 100% scale.
