At the limit this is very confusing to me tbh. It seems like if you can have mind-blowing sex with someone something must be really good about how your intentions interact.

"Something good about how your intentions interact," is an appreciably tiny part of a good relationship. A huge portion of virtuous relationship dynamics have to be deliberately constructed & maintained. Also; high interpersonal friction can be sexually gratifying.
