Everyone's interviewing takes are reliably bad. (Most people's interviewing takes are reliably terrible). It thus behoves us to make sure that our bad takes about interviewing are at least interestingly bad, and most of us don't even manage that.
I know folks who have to do a lot of interviewing to make a living, and a rich living at that. It amazes me that they can’t explain their approach to the problem at all, beyond a few platitudes. Then they get pissed off when newbies can’t emulate or ‘use initiative’. Eurgh.

Of course what makes them successful in their field is not their ability to deconstruct good interview praxis. Mostly sales skill plus ‘interpersonal magic’.

Yeah. It's the usual thing where the world operant conditions you into doing something that works pretty well purely on the basis of interviewing and pattern matching, but that doesn't automatically give you the ability to deconstruct it into an explanation of your behaviour.
