Woah. Also _aesthetic_, they had music considered so good, that to maintain the mystical goodness had Papal secrecy, so it couldn’t be heard or transcribed outside certain occasions. Which is fine until you invite a 14 y/o Mozart to stay, and he transcribes from memory.
