What type of teachings are you referring to... the renunciation or engagement?
Teaching anything, to be honest. But I was referring specifically to approaches based on working with emotions, instead of suppressing/denying/controlling. FWIW: I'm a bit torn on whether 'renunciation' label works — it gets used in different ways — but I'm comfortable enough.

My, um, feeling is the terms are often a bit awkward and almost always need some explication. But one alternative is "non-attachment," in distinction from "detachment" and the sort of renunciation that implies a kind of disparagement of the objest being let (i.e., allowed to) go.

Yeah, words are awkward. I'm not so much looking for a better word, as much as putting an asterisk next to a word and saying *by the way this can mean a bunch of stuff, because humans. Because in some systems, the training _is_ renunciative in the way being used here.
