The concept of karmic imprints on the alaya-vijnana, from a yogacara perspective, depends on misperception (ie: parikalpita). If the meditator experiences a dependent mind moment’ (ie: paratantra) as being empty of perceived/perceiver, then no karmic trace is left (parinispanna).

I’m notoriously bad at this stuff and mix up the various views according to my heretic freewheeling chaos and to the annoyance of sincere students of madhyamaka philosophy - but perhaps that gives some ideas for where to look for clarification.
