Do any of you make use of, or have cool examples of non-gregorian calendars, ritual cycles, temporal organisation? (Thinking about 'islands of time', asynchronous ritual orders)

Variable-dependant systems are concerned with occurrences, not the periodicity. I wonder how this impacts on the individuals living within that ritual ordering - whether they feel time differently as a result of the social ordering.

The menstrual cycle is one such non-calendar time measure. Different parts of the cycle are more (or less) conducive to different kinds of work or activities. Hormonal birth control can really mess this up though.
