But you're a chef! Of course you're doing metarationality. Cooking is one of the things I think of as paradigmatic of that mode.
I’m not a chef, although I’m a fairly decent cook and have worked in kitchens. Interesting that you made that connection though....I guess I have more to learn about metarationality, if that’s true.

in my experience, few things come as close to purely being a "system with no system" than cooking. it's rational and procedural on some level, to the point that things like recipes and academies exist, but no practicing chef would claim it can be reduced to only procedure.

and making a perfect omelette is an ideal example of this. a written recipe for it is totally inadequate to saying anything useful about the act, yet it's not so poorly defined that you couldn't conceive of writing down your technique. in fact, you have written it down.
